“Anam Cara” is Gaelic for “Soul Friend”. I am of Irish heritage and when I heard this term I immediately knew this had to be my kennel name! Allow me to introduce you to my current “soul friends”:
Anam Cara Vizslas was founded February, 2001 with the acquisition on my first Vizsla Am/Can Ch Sunnyside’s Tailor Made CGC. “Buddy” was also my first show dog and a wonderful introduction to the breed. I got him at 8 weeks of age and he was sooooo patient with me! He finished his American and Canadian championships, won a Best in Sweeps at 8 months of age, placed 4th at the Vizsla nationals all with me on the lead. (He makes me look so good!) He achieved his Canine Good Citizen certificate in very short order and we were certified through Delta Society and participated as a pet therapy team with Lake County Mental Health. He was and is my original anam cara. He exemplifies “man’s best friend” and he never meets a stranger. He is the best at teaching new puppies and rescue dogs the “ropes” and when necessary the “rules and manners”. Buddy is the original reason I am so fond of Vizslas! He now has the highest title of “SPM” (Senior Pack Member)

Champion AC Cooper of Sunnyside JH
Ch AC Cooper of Sunnyside JH is my first homebred champion. Cooper went Best of Breed over specials his first show out and placed first in his class at the Vizsla Nationals and finished his championship in 5 short months witha 5 point major in Cleveland the next month. He has been in the field on 3 separate occasions in Texas for training and I have shown him in Canada where he has 7 of his 10 points needed for his Canadian Championship. “Cooper” was very successful as a special with Sue Shore. He was shown at Westminster Kennel Club Show in New York in February 2008 and finished 2007 & 2008 ranked in the top 20 for the breed. He has sired his first litter 2009. “Keeper”, Sienna Pointe AC Mc Allister’s Keeper of the Dream, is from this litter and placed 4th in the 6-9 month puppy class at the 2009 Vizslas Nationals. Keeper is showing great ability as a hunting dog (2 legs of his JH first time out) as well as super ability in obedience and agililty. Cooper is from “Buddy’s” first and only litter and is a very talented dog, eager to please and very trainable no matter what venue. Cooper has proven to be an excellent quail and pheasant dog and naturally backs his field companions. Cooper has retired from showing and is now living in Middleton, WI with his new family and enjoying life to the fullest.
Frozen semen is available.

Group Winning
Am/Can Ch CMF AC Northern Leitz, JH
“Aurora” is my first female and I got her at 8 weeks of age. She comes from a direct line of 4 generations of Best In Show. She garnered 4th at our nationals as a puppy her first year, won Best Puppy at the Chicago International, Best Puppy in Match over 150 entries in Milwaukee and she finished her American Championship very fast with 3 major wins before the age of 12 months and finished her Canadian Championship by going Best of Opposite Sex from the classes in a large entry at the Ontario Vizsla Specialty. It has been such fun to train and show her. She was shown on a limited basis as a specials with Carlos Puig on the lead and has done quite well with a group win and multiple group placements finishing in the top 20 nationally in 2007 with limited showing. She was shown at Westminster 2007 and made us very proud. Aurora is now retired from the show ring and is an excellent quail and pheasant dog as well as a devoted family pet.

Cooper has passed all the health clearances for the “CHIC” and his information is available at http://www.caninehealthinfo.org/chicinfo.html. Cooper’s CHIC # is 31310 Buddy is OFA good for hips, CERF normal (was not registered as he was neutered when checked) and OFA normal for thyroid and elbows. Of prime importance to me is temperament, excellent health and longevity, combined with hunting ability, excellent conformation and pedigree. Of equal importance is proper nutrition and early, thorough socialization to develop a we adjusted individual. I look forward to seeing my many friends at upcoming events and shows and look forward to meeting new friends and sharing your tales about your “Anam Cara Vizslas”. Good luck to all of you. See you at the shows!
The following are photos of Cooper and Aurora on a hunting trip with Ralph and Marie Jackson in early October, 2009. It was Aurora’s first time on pheasant and the first time I had hunted Cooper and Aurora together. The pheasants were really running on us that day. The cover was heavy but both dogs worked very well. We were out for over 3 hours and had 6 points and came home with 2 kills. I was so happy with how my dogs worked together as a team. They worked independant of each other and honored each others points! Each one retrieved a killed bird as well! Buddy went along for the last 45 minutes and had a wonderful time tagging along. It is so incredibly fun to watch these beautiful animals perform as they were bred to do. Enjoy the photos!
